About Us
More Than Just Cancer Treatment
At Cancer Centers of North Carolina - Asheville Hematology Oncology, we believe the most important aspect of our job isn’t just treatment; it is patient care. We are a full service, private medical oncology practice consisting of 5 Medical Oncologists and Hematologists, a Radiation Oncologist, Oncology-certified nurses, and a friendly administrative staff. Our 24,000 square-foot facility is Western North Carolina’s first and only private, comprehensive, integrated cancer center, offering medical oncology, radiation oncology, chemotherapy, diagnostic CT imaging, a pharmacy, and a progressive laboratory all in one convenient, easy-to-access location. This comprehensive cancer model improves patient access to advanced care, increases collaboration amongst cancer specialists, and ultimately decreases costs.

The view from our infusion suite where patients receive chemotherapy creates a peaceful environment where both patients and their family members can have a calm experience.
We have been providing compassionate care to the communities of Western North Carolina for over 25 years. Our dedicated team of oncologists and hematologists, Dr. Shonda Asaad, Dr. Anita Deshpande, Dr. Don Jackson, and Dr. Raymond Thertulien work closely with Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Roger Holland and his radiation therapy team to customize each patient’s individual treatment plan.
Since 1995, our office has been affiliated with US Oncology, Inc., the nation’s premier oncology services company, which has the largest network of cancer professionals in the United States.
